The 28-year-old is expected to be out of action until October at the earliest but fans were undoubtedly excited by pictures showing Lacazette working hard in the gym at London Colney.
The former Lyon star will miss Monday night's huge Premier League showdown with United, but his recovery has had some supporters hoping for a miracle.
After Arsenal posted a positive injury update under the words "Comeback loading", one fan replied: Announce surprise start tonight!!!!!"
Another added: "Hope he makes it to the bench tonight."
A third said: "Arsenal about to drop Lacazette on the team sheet later and have the whole fanbase shook. I’m ready boys!"
Lacazette's importance to Unai Emery was recently highlighted by the fact that he was named one of four support players to club captain Granit Xhaka.
The forward is ahead of Mesut Ozil in the pecking order but behind both strike partner Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Hector Bellerin.

With Lacazette all but certain to miss the United clash, Nicolas Pepe and Aubameyang are set to get the nod up front while Kieran Tierney looks set for a Premier League baptism of fire.
The left-back is finally fit and ready to make his league debut after his £25million summer transfer from Celtic this summer.
Tierney, 22, played 90 minutes of the 5-0 Carabao Cup thrashing of Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.
