Documents show operations involving 26,774 officers in the capital cost £10.6million last season.

That figure is for all of London’s football clubs in the four main divisions — as well as for Wembley Stadium. But the clubs only paid £682,197.

Police can only charge for cop costs in stadia or land owned by the clubs.

But several clubs said they have made extra contributions to the police, employ hundreds of people and are a major boost for the local economy on match days.

PREMIER League footballers are installing panic rooms in their homes and paying bodyguards to take their kids to school in armoured cars, we can reveal.

One player, an England star, even has a former SAS soldier sleeping at the bottom of his garden to protect his family.

It comes after the attack on Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil and Saed Kolasinac by an armed gang.

A source helping protect high-profile players said: “The view among players is it is only a matter of time before a player or a member of their family is seriously hurt or even killed.”

Around 40 footballers are currently paying security firms for their protection services.
