HOLD tight, Frank, for the wildest ride of your life.
Chelsea are a white-knuckle experience, a series of high-speed twists and turns that leaves managers feeling sick.
3 Rookie manager Frank Lampard is ready to lead a rollercoaster journey as a youthful Chelsea side revamp
3 Frank Lampard is expecting a testing time as Chelsea chief early on, especially as Eden Hazard is now with Real Madrid
Lampard was on track in pre-season but Chelsea went into a steep death dive by conceding four at Manchester United on Sunday.
Against Liverpool this evening, when they compete with the European Cup winners for the Super Cup, they will need to perform a 180.
Boss Lampard said: “This week is a good example of that rollercoaster but I had a year at Derby with similar rollercoasters.
“It comes with managers’ jobs, particularly at clubs like Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City — all the bigger teams.
“A lot has happened but I was ready for that and I certainly don’t fear that.
“There are challenges every day in this job, from small decisions at the training ground to a big decision about a player after a result.
“I’m prepared for that and let’s see what the rollercoaster brings moving forward.”
The launch did not go well, beaten comprehensively at Old Trafford and then walking straight into former boss Jose Mourinho’s criticism of his selection.
Lampard has been dealt a tough hand here because he is also coming to terms with the loss of star man Eden Hazard.
He was such an influential figure at Chelsea, a world star at a club crying out for a hero after Lampard and John Terry’s retirements.
MISSING HAZARD'S GOALS
Chelsea’s manager added: “I was a huge fan of Hazard as a Chelsea fan. I played with him and he is clearly one of the best players in world football.
“Over his time at Chelsea, he was generally the most productive player in terms of assists and goals — and he was a leader.
“You cannot replace him individually, it’s virtually impossible because of the high level he is at.
“But the good and positive news for us is that we have a group of players, some younger and some experienced players, who now have the opportunity to show collectively and individually they can step up, because we are missing a huge number of assists and goals.
“As a team, we have to find a way to carry on, because a football club like Chelsea will always carry on.
“Hazard, John Terry, Didier Drogba etc — players move on.
“Then it’s down to the next players and the next manager to say good luck to Hazard but carry on as Chelsea.”
Hazard played his final game for the club in Baku, on the winning side as Chelsea walloped Arsenal 4-1 in the Europa League final.
That win in May has taken them to Istanbul to compete with Liverpool for the first piece of European silverware this season.

Lamps has been denied twice as a player, a beaten finalist in 2012 against Atletico Madrid and the following year on penalties against Bayern Munich.
He said: “It means a lot to the club. I know firsthand because we lost two.
“We lost to Atletico Madrid in poor circumstances and gave them the Super Cup. We were unfortunate to lose to Bayern.
“When you work hard to get into this game between two champions, it is important that, at a club like Chelsea, we give everything to win.
“It means something to us as a club because it is another trophy.
“It would be a really nice start for me personally but more than that it would be a really good feeling for the players to know we can compete with Liverpool. If we win a cup it goes down in our history.
“We understand the importance of it.”
Lifting the trophy, defying Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Sadio Mane, would be a mighty achievement.
Liverpool were rampant against Norwich on Friday, full of beans as they ran out 4-1 winners at Anfield.
Lampard has a bridging job, muddling through his first season in charge before he is able to make signings of his own when the club’s transfer ban is up.
He added: “It’s not a big question about the Super Cup. We really want to win but the bigger picture is how we work together to become a team.
