GARETH BALE would "fit in" at Manchester United, but only "something exceptional" would see him leave Real Madrid, according to his agent.

Bale, 29, looks surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu after new boss Zinedine Zidane “decided he can do without” him.

Real have already splurged over £260million this summer and are keen to offload Bale, who earns around £600,000-a-week.

Asked about a potential move to Manchester United, the ex-Tottenham man's agent, Jonathan Barnett, said: “He could fit in there but it’s very unlikely.”

Los Blancos have explored a loan move — with Bayern Munich reportedly keen — if no one is willing to buy.

However, on a potential short-term move, Barnett claimed there is more chance of him getting lucky at Royal Ascot.

NEIGH TO LOAN MOVE

Barnett added: “Obviously, Gareth’s situation hasn’t improved.

"But a loan move is not going to happen — there’s more chance of me winning at Ascot.

“I don’t think he wants to go out on loan. He’s got a lovely life in Spain.

“It would take something exceptional for him to leave and loans are not on the menu."

But Bayern are very keen on Bale, with Niko Kovac seeing him as an ideal replacement for the departed Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery.

Even on loan he is too rich for the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham right now – with Wayne Rooney warning his old club not to go for his fellow former Prem star.

Bale, who turns 30 next month, knows his chances of playing are slim in Madrid so he may be interested in moving to the Bundesliga for a year, to stay sharp and rekindle his club career.
