ANTHONY JOSHUA has attempted to take a swipe at Tyson Fury following his comfortable win over Tom Schwarz win.

The Watford star, 29, admitted he wants to "go back to fighting top 50 opponents" – despite only two weeks earlier losing to 20st, unknown Mexican Andy Ruiz Jr.

On Saturday night, the Gypsy King, 30, ripped German Schwarz to shreds in a simple win within two rounds.

But Joshua, clearly less-than-impressed, said: "I thought on Tyson Fury’s win, he done what he had to…

"I could talk s*** but he done what he had to, well played to him."

After hitting out at Schwarz's ranking of No56, AJ added: “I want to go back to fighting top 50 opponents.

“I think, why do I keep doing this s*** to myself.

“As long as I’m ranked No1 in the world, that’s all that matters.”

Joshua is said to be facing Ruiz in a rematch later this year, aiming to win back the world titles he lost to the Mexican heavyweight.

AJ was KO'd by Ruiz at New York's Madison Square Garden – having originally been slated to take on Jarrell Miller before he was denied a boxing licence after testing positive to a banned substance.

Now, David Haye has claimed Joshua needs to take on "street fighters" to get his revenge on the Mexican.

Haye said: “It appeared that Ruiz was more battle hardened in the battle zone and Joshua looked uncomfortable.

“I just think he needs much tougher sparring.

“I used to go on my own and literally spar with anybody. People from the street. But that hasn’t really been the case with Joshua.

“He needs to spar with all-comers who are allowed to try to knock him out.

“My sparring partners were allowed to try to knock me out if they could — and that’s what made it live.”
