Watford fight Burnley for Craig Dawson as West Brom ace eyes Premier League return

WATFORD will join the race for West Brom’s Craig Dawson and fight Burnley for the central defender.

The FA Cup runners-up want a British defender and experienced Dawson fits the bill, with word out that he is keen to get back to the Premier League.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche wants Dawson, 29, who has changed agent in the bid to get a move, but now the Hornets are buzzing around the deal.

Meanwhile, Dyche has met Bolton defender Harry Brockbank about joining the Clarets.

Brentford, Ipswich and Sunderland also want the 20-year-old, who can leave due to a snag in his contract.

EAGLES EYE SCOTT

MANCHESTER UNITED are trying to tie down Scott McTominay to stop a snatch by Crystal Palace.

Scotland midfielder McTominay, 22, is anxious to see where he stands in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans after being given a push into the big time by previous Old Trafford manager Jose Mourinho.

And Palace are interested in the powerful 6ft 3in prospect if United are not going to use him regularly next season and beyond.

However United’s chiefs are keen to keep McTominay happy and are putting together a new contract.

The Eagles will stay ready to pounce — but are reluctant to push too hard because United are strongly linked with their star right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

WILSON TO KOP PREM LOAN

LIVERPOOL are gearing up to send their Welsh wizard Harry Wilson to a Premier League club on loan — and will price him out of a sale.

The winger is back after a season at Derby and could start next season at the top level one way or another.

A handful of clubs are keen on taking Wilson, 22, but those inquiring, including Aston Villa, are finding out it will cost at least £15million to buy him.

Derby and Leeds would like Wilson on loan but Liverpool — and the player — think a move to the elite level is the next step.

TOFFEES OFFLOAD £12m VLASIC

EVERTON are set to sell Croatia star Nikola Vlasic to CSKA Moscow — unless Newcastle make an offer.

Vlasic, 21, did well on loan at CSKA and the Russians are putting together a £12million deal to sign him permanently.

Toon boss Rafa Benitez is yet to bid as he sorts through his targets.

BEES HOLD FIRM ON £20m SAID

BRENTFORD have slapped a £20million price tag on Said Benrahma in a bid to scare off old boss Dean Smith at Aston Villa.

The Bees will sell a couple of players this summer but will not let the winger, 23, go cheaply — especially now Villa have their Premier League cash.

Villa would go to around half of that sum but face a long spell of haggling to seal a deal for the Algerian ace.

POTTERS IN FOR LIN

STOKE look poised to step in for Barnsley centre-half Liam Lindsay after Italians Brescia backed off over his £3million price-tag.

The Potters hope to agree a fee along with offering the defender a big pay rise.

Brescia — owned by ex-Leeds chairman Massimo Cellino — were willing to pay half that sum.

Lindsay, 23, previously spent five years at Partick Thistle.
