Ndombele, 22, was on Manchester City’s radar before they switched their attention to Atletico Madrid’s Rodri.

Spurs will also face competition from Italian champions Juventus to land the ex-Amiens player but Lyon believe Poch’s

According to a source at the French club they “believe that Tottenham are serious about pursuing a deal for Ndombele this window”.

Lyon are looking for £65million for the player they bought for just £7million last summer after an initial loan.

TOP PRIORITY

They are willing to cash in for the right offer and are braced for an offer from Spurs as Poch looks to bolster his squad after reaching the Champions League final.

The Tottenham boss is looking for a long-term replacement for Moussa Dembele after his departure to Chinese side Guangzhou R&F in January.

Ndombele is the preferred choice to drive Pochettino’s midfield, with Harry Winks seen as another star of central midfield for the future.

With Ndombele as the priority for Poch, the club will attempt to secure the signatures of younger players such as Ryan Sessegnon at Fulham or Leeds’ Jack Clarke AFTER trying to land their No1 target.
