Jack Owens was sent off for Widnes Vikings in their Challenge Cup defeat at Wakefield
Widnes full-back Jack Owens has been suspended for two games following his dismissal for using foul and abusive language to a touch judge.
Owens, who was sent off during the Vikings’ 26-6 Coral Challenge Cup sixth-round defeat at Wakefield last Friday, admitted the grade D offence of questioning the integrity of a match official when he appeared in front of a disciplinary tribunal.
He could have been banned for up to five matches but the tribunal took into account the player’s excellent previous record, his mitigation and the considerable remorse shown.
Owens, who was also given a £250 fine, will start the suspension against Leigh in the last match of the Championship Summer Bash in Blackpool on Sunday.
