Maurizio Sarri – fined £8,000 after admitting a misconduct charge for his role in the melee – had claimed he was repeatedly called a "s*** Italian".

But following extensive talks between officials from both teams and an FA probe, the clubs have now "drawn a line under the matter".

A Chelsea statement read: "Issues arising between both benches during Monday night’s match have been resolved between the coaches and clubs.

"A line has been drawn under the matter."

"FRUSTRATED AND OFFENDED"

Sarri, 60, was sent-off by referee Kevin Friend on the night – after being left "frustrated and offended" by the alleged abuse from the Burnley bench.

The whole argument kicked-off following a scrap between Mateo Kovacic and Jack Cork on the pitch.

Sarri was left so angered by the situation he refused to speak to the media after the game, with his No2 Gianfranco Zola instead in attendance.

Zola revealed: "Maurizio felt very unhappy. We understand it's a football game. You say words because of the adrenaline, but he wasn't particularly happy.
