Mourinho was axed as Manchester United boss in December after losing his job twice at Chelsea.
He said: “Of course, the dream many years ago was especially to work in English football. It was culturally at that level where you would give a few years to the manager.
“Let the manager build the club in this image, then build the team and stay with that team for a long period of time.
“That tendency is to change more than before.”
Mourinho was in line for a Real reunion following the Spanish giants’ elimination from the Champions League at the hands of Ajax.
