Due to Hector Bellerin’s injury, Unai Emery put a block on any switch even though he has yet to feature for the senior team.

Osei-Tutu, 20, moved to Arsenal in 2015 after being signed from Reading's academy for a fee of around £100,000.

As a youngster, Osei-Tutu was a goalscoring winger but in the under-18s, Arsenal switched him to a right-back.

The club considered reverting him to a winger last season but after training with the first-team last term, former boss Arsene Wenger insisted he has great potential by remaining as an attacking defender. The switch back to his old position was aborted.

He also involved in the senior matchday squad last season including the Europa League clash against Red Star Belgrade and in the Premier League at Manchester United.

New boss Unai Emery picked him to start in the pre-season friendly against Boreham Wood – albeit at left-back – in what was the Spanish manager's first ever game in charge back in July.

With good crossing ability, a decent engine, strength in the tackle and with an ability to read the game, Emery believes he will make it at Arsenal – and also included him in a young squad which made the trip to Vorskla Poltava in the Europa League.

Also on the flight to the Ukraine were fellow youngsters John-Jules and Willock and Charlie Gilmour.

A big influence on Osei-Tutu at Arsenal has been former star Freddie Ljungberg, head coach of the under-23s. He has given the youngster added encouragement and told him to have no fear in the final third.

Although the player could be loaned out next season, he is still expected to make a mark at the club.

Arsenal supporters have had to put up with lots of boasting from Spurs fans about their academy but finally, the red and white half of north London looks as though it will have something to shout about on that front.
