Rabbi Matondo left Man City as their quickest player, can run 20m faster than Bolt and now haunt his old side with Schalke

MANCHESTER CITY will be fully aware of the lightning bolt that could dent their Champions League hopes tomorrow night.

At the end of last season, pacy teen star Rabbi Matondo was the club’s quickest player.

Rabbi Matondo left Man City as their quickest player, can run 20m faster than Bolt and now haunt his old side with Schalke5 Rabbi Matondo was quicker even that renowned Mancester City speedsters Raheem Sterling, Kyle Walker and Leroy Sane at the end of last season

The Wales international, 18, set a new record for a 20-metre sprint during end-of-season tests with a razor-sharp 2.62 seconds, beating Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling and Kyle Walker in the process.

That is even faster than Olympic legend Usain Bolt’s opening 20m time of 2.87sec when he landed 100m gold in Beijing in 2008.

So City should not be surprised if Matondo, who left the Etihad for Schalke in a £11.3million deal just 20 days ago, comes back to instantly haunt them in the last-16 first leg in Germany.

Wales national director Osian Roberts has known about Matondo since he was in Cardiff’s academy at the age of 12.
