ARSENAL FANS arrived at Old Trafford on a high, full of optimism and it is a long time since they have been able to do that.
Ian Wright wrote in SunSport on the morning of the game that he had not felt this positive since the Gunners went to Old Trafford to claim the title back in 2002.

That is how much Unai Emery has changed the mindset at Arsenal.
The question when debating Arsene Wenger’s future was always whether things might go south if he left North London.
Was he holding them back? Or was he still doing wonders by keeping them consistently in the top four, until the last two seasons, whilst winning three FA Cup in his final five years.
It was this debate between fans that was turning The Emirates toxic as some turned and others demanded respect for their greatest ever manager.
Well they were never going to know what the future held without taking a giant step into and with Wenger’s departure and Unai Emery’s arrival they have done just that.
The early signs are more than positive.

Just witness the atmosphere at The Emirates last Sunday when Arsenal came from behind to beat North London rivals Spurs 4-2.
The place rocked like it never has.
The thrilling win had Emery’s passion and tactical nous stamped all over it.
It was brilliant to watch and they took full part in a cracking encounter last night too.
They went bouncing into this meeting and into the lead even if they were a slight fortuitous with the lead they took through Shkodran Mustafi as David De Gea palmed the ball up and over the line.

They would go in level at the break but Arsenal have proved to be better in second-halves this season and Emery likes to make bold moves to win games.
He did it again here bringing on Alexandre Lacazette to play with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the 64th minute and four minutes later the sub had scored.
One thing Emery still needs to sort out is the defence as was proved by the chaotic way they surrendered their lead straight from the restart.
But things are still pointing very much in the right direction.
