According to TuttoMercato, the Toffees are keen to bring the Brazilian forward to the Premier League and give him another shot at performing in Europe.
Barbosa – nicknamed Gabigol – joined Santos aged eight, leaving for Inter 12 years later in 2016 but struggling to make an impression at the San Siro.
He managed just one goal in nine Serie A games – a crucial winner in the 1-0 away victory at Bologna.
It wasn't enough for the attacker to keep his place in the side, though, and he spent the first half of the 2017-18 season on loan at Benfica managing just 165 minutes for the Portuguese giants.

With his career threatening to derail spectacularly, he rejoined former club Santos on loan in January and has enjoyed a far better year in his homeland.
In May, Barbosa bagged his first professional hat-trick and followed it up with all three in the 3-0 away win at Vasco da Gama in September.
And Marco Silva's Everton reportedly lodged a loan bid but were rebuffed by Inter, who are keen to sell Barbosa rather than let him leave on loan again.
They understandably want to recoup as much of the £26million they splashed on him two years ago.
